ITINERARY

Day 1   Arrive Bangkok 

Met on arrival and transfer to your hotel.

Hotel: 4* Center Point Silom or similar (2 nights)

Day 2 Bangkok (B,L)

A full-day tour highlights visits to the spectacular Grand Palace, Temples of the Emerald Buddha, Golden Buddha, and Reclining Buddha. Enjoy a long-tailed boat ride for an exciting cruise through the canals of outer Bangkok followed by a cruise on the bigger canals in a converted Rice Barge.

DAY 3 Bangkok – Ratchaburi – Kanchanaburi B, L, D

Drive to Ratchaburi and take a long-tailed boat to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. Continue to Kanchanaburi and experience the original “Death Railway”, the new Thailand-Burma Railway center and visit the World War II Cemetery. Tonight, enjoy a 60-minute Thai massage in your hotel.

DAY 4 Kanchanaburi – Ayutthaya – Phitsanilouk – Sukhothai B, L, D

Travel to Ayutthaya via Suplhan Buri and visit the ruins of this ancient capital city. Continue driving further north to Phitsanulok to visit the much-venerated shrine of Wat Mahathat, which is home to Thailand’s most beautiful buddha image. It is one of the most highly revered images in the country, which makes the temple an important pilgrimage site for Thai Buddhists. Dive to Sukhothai for your overnight stay.

DAY 5 Sukhothai – Lampang B, L, D

Today you will visit the Wat mahathat and explore teh many ruined temples, monasteries and Buddha figures art Sukhothai Historical Park. travelling further north to Lampang, you will stop en route to visit Wat Phra Kaew Don Tao and Wat Phra That Lampang Luang.

DAY 6 LampangChiang Rai                              B, L

Depart for Chiang Rai with a stop at a small town of Phayao for refreshments beside the lake. Continue to Chiang Rai and visit Wat Rong Khun (White Temple), Wat Phra Kaew, wat Rong Seua Ten (Blue Temple) and wat Phra Singh, a cultural landmark in the history of Buddhism in Thailand. If time permits, we will also visit the 9-story pagoda Wat Huai Pla Kang.

DAY 7 Chiang Rai                                        B, L

This morning, we will visit Doi Tung Hill Tribe Village, one of Thailand’s many royal projects and Doi Tung Royal Villa, a former mountain retreat of the King’s grandmother.

Drive to Mae Sai, cross the Sai River to Myanmar and witness local Burmese in nearby village. explore the colorful markets and the Shan style temples on a rickshaw. enjoy a scenic boat trip along the Mekong River to the Golden Triangle area, and a visit to the Opium Museum. Visit Wat Pa Sak (Teak Forest Temple) in Chiang Saen.

DAY 8 Chiang Rai – Chiang Mai                          B, L,D

Drive overland to Chiang Mai. Enjoy a relaxing drive up the slopes of Doi Suthep to visit a Meo hill tribe and observe their simple way of life. There are several groups of Meo hill tribes but the Blue Meo and the White Meo tribal groups are the largest in numbers. These groups are distinguished by their costume and despite their name; the White Meo wear a black costumes. This tour offers a spectacular view of Northern Thailand as we travel on mountain roads and through forest scenery, ending with a visit to the 600 year-old Doi Suthep Temple near the summit of Doi Suthep. The final climb to the site is via a magnificent Naga (dragon-headed serpents) staircase of 306 steps. Inside is an intriguing copper-plated chedi topped by a five-tier gold umbrella which contains partial relics of Lord Buddha.

DAY 9  Chiang Mai                                         B,L

Get closer and personal with an elephant and learn some of the care and skills needed to handle an elephant. There will be time spent bathing the elephant at a waterfall/stream and riding bareback dressed in Karen ethnic type clothes as the mahouts typically wear. A picnic lunch will be served at a waterfall.

Tonight, enjoy a cultural show and a ceremonial northern Thai Dinner, known as Kantoke.
