Jade Tours/Air Booking Center (ABC) is a 50 year old travel company operating in multiple countries. We are seeking a motivated, AI experienced software developer to join our tech team in our head office at Richmond Hill, Toronto.

About the Position

Our company develops and maintains travel booking platforms, reservation systems, API integrations, internal business applications, and automation solutions.

The ideal candidate will have solid development experience in C#/.NET, Java, Microsoft SQL Server, and API development, along with practical knowledge of modern AI-assisted development tools, particularly Claude Code.

You will work alongside our existing senior developers to develop new applications, enhance current systems, integrate third-party services, and improve development efficiency through modern tools and technologies.

We value developers who are adaptable, resourceful, and able to use AI development tools effectively to improve coding productivity, troubleshooting, testing, and software delivery.

Travel industry experience is not required. Candidates from other industries are welcome.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance web applications, backend services, and internal business systems.
• Build applications using C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, Java, and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Design, develop, consume, and maintain RESTful APIs for internal and external system integrations.
• Use AI-assisted development tools, particularly Claude Code, to support coding, debugging, refactoring, and testing.
• Work with the senior developer on application architecture, technical design, and development standards.
• Develop SQL queries, stored procedures, database functions, and other database components.
• Optimize database queries and troubleshoot application performance issues.
• Integrate third-party APIs, payment services, booking platforms, and business systems.
• Develop automated processes to reduce manual operational tasks.
• Maintain and improve existing applications, including legacy systems.
• Assist in the development of AI-enabled applications and workflow automation solutions.
• Troubleshoot software issues and provide technical support for business applications.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment, and documentation.
• Collaborate with internal teams to understand requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.

Required Technical Skills

Backend Development

• Strong working knowledge of C# and .NET / ASP.NET Core.
• Practical experience with Java development.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP), software design patterns, and application architecture.
• Experience developing and maintaining web applications and backend services.

Database Development

• Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
• Proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, views, functions, and complex queries.
• Knowledge of relational database design, indexing, and query optimization.
• Experience troubleshooting database-related application issues.

API Development and Integration

• Hands-on experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Experience working with JSON, XML, HTTP/HTTPS, and web services.
• Understanding of API authentication methods, including OAuth 2.0, JWT, and API keys.
• Familiarity with Swagger/OpenAPI and Postman.
• Experience handling API errors, logging, data validation, and integration troubleshooting.

AI-Assisted Development

• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Claude, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with using AI tools for code generation, troubleshooting, refactoring, and unit testing.
• Interest in AI agents, AI-powered development workflows, and software automation.
• Ability to review, understand, and validate AI-generated code.
• Willingness to learn and adopt new AI development technologies.

Development Tools

• Git and source control.
• Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, or IntelliJ IDEA.
• Windows Server and IIS environments.
• Software debugging, testing, and deployment.
• Understanding of secure coding practices.

• Financial application integration, invoicing, and payment processing.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
• Approximately 3–5 years of professional software development experience preferred.
• Hands-on experience with .NET, Java, and SQL Server.
• Experience developing or integrating RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools, with Claude Code experience considered a strong asset.
• Good analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and collaborate with a senior developer.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and business applications.
• Availability to work on-site five days per week.
