DAY 1 Beijing – Datong

Travel by train to Datong (approx. 5 hrs). Met on arrival and transferred to your hotel.

Hotel: 4*Howard Johnson Jindi Plaza Datong or similar (1 night)

DAY 2 Datong – Taiyuan B, L, D

Visit Yungang Grottoes, one of China’s four most famous “Buddhist Caves Art Treasures” with its group of 53 caverns carved into the side of a kilometer long section of sandstone cliff, and the Hanging Monastery with 40 wooden temples built on hidden rocks and supported by hanging beams. Drive to Taiyuan (approx. 3 hrs)

DAY 3 Taiyuan B, L, D

Visit Jinci Temple located at the foot of Xuan Weng (Hanging Urn) Mountain. Enjoy a special local flavor lunch with a noodle making demonstration. Visit the Shanxi Coal Museum.

DAY 4 Taiyuan – Pingyao B L D

Drive to Pingyao and visit the Chang Family Manor, Shuangling Temple, and the ancient Pingyao City, the most well preserved ancient city in China.

DAY 5 Pingyao – Xian B L

Visit Zhangbi Ancient Village (Zhangbi Ancient Castle) built in 617 AD, at an altitude of 1,040 meters (3412 feet) above sea level known for its underground tunnels with three layers connected by approx. 5 kms crisscrossing tunnels Drive back to Pingyao for express train to Xian(approx. 3 hrs).

Today’s tour highlights the UNESCO site of the Terra-Cotta Warriors & Bronze Chariots, and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, landmark of Xian. Tonight enjoy a Dumpling dinner & Tang Dynasty Show.

DAY 7 Xian – Luoyang B L D

Visit the History Museum, Grand Mosque with its Chinese Muslim market. Take the train to Luoyang (approx. 4 hrs). Met on arrival, and transferred to your hotel.

DAY 8 Luoyang – Shaolin Temple – Zhengzhou B L D

This morning, visit Longmen Grottoes before driving (approx. 80 km) to Shaolin Temple, one of the cradles of Chinese martial arts. Enjoy a martial arts performance and visit the temple and Pagoda Forest, a cemetery of 246 pagodas containing the ashes of eminent monks. Drive to Zhengzhou and check in your hotel.

DAY 9 Zhengzhou – Shanghai B L

Visit the Henan Provincial Museum’s collections of the earliest civilizations of Shang and Zhou Dynasties. Fly to Shanghai, and transfer to your hotel.

Transfer to the airport.
