DAY 7 – In the Footsteps of Avatar (B, D)

Do you remember the breathtaking floating mountains from the Hollywood movie Avatar? While the Na‘vi will not be making an appearance, you will certainly recognize the inspiration behind the landscapes they inhabit in the movie, as you explore Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. You will take a cable car up to Tianzi Mountain, which offers a breathtaking panorama of the park’s unique sandstone pillars. For those seeking adventure, you may also choose to walk across the 430-meter-long glass-bottom bridge—if you dare! We advise keeping your eyes forward, as the bridge overlooks the deep gorges of the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. In the evening, you will enjoy a traditional dinner at a local restaurant in Wulingyuan.

Does this immense structure truly affect the Earth’s rotation? Discover the fascinating facts behind this modern marvel during your visit. Later, you will sail through the stunning landscapes of Xiling Gorge. If you wish to delve deeper, your tour guide will be happy to inform you about the educational presentations and activities available on board.

DAY 10 – On the cruise (B, L, D)

Scenic Cruise & Tributary Exploration: Your journey continues through the breathtaking gorges of the world’s third-longest river. As you sail, watch out for vibrant orange groves, traditional farmhouses, and riverside villages along the majestic Wu Gorge. The passage through Qutang Gorge—though only 7 kilometers—is equally dramatic, so stay alert: you won’t want to miss a moment of these stunning landscapes. Midday, you will transfer to a smaller boat to explore one of the Yangtze’s serene tributaries, offering an up-close perspective of the region’s natural beauty.

DAY 11 – On the cruise (B, L, D)

Shibaozhai Pagoda & Leisure on Board: Today, your ship docks near the remarkable Shibaozhai Pagoda. Thanks to the elevated water levels caused by the Three Gorges Dam, you can now access this architectural treasure on foot. This 12-story wooden pagoda was built in the 18th century without the use of a single nail! After the visit, your tour guide will be happy to inform you about various onboard activities and entertainment options available for the rest of the day.

DAY 12 – Chongqing – Xian (B)

The cruise will arrive at Chongqing. Get ready to experience Chongqing—a sprawling metropolis, China’s largest urban center and home to over 30 million people.

(PLEASE STAY CONSISTENT WITH INFORMATION THROUGHOUT THE BROCHURE) You will visit the old town of Ciqikou, enjoy a stroll through the tranquil Eling Park, and stop at the bustling Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street before being transferred to the railway station. You will then board a high-speed train to Xi’an. Use the approximately five-hour journey to reflect on the unforgettable moments you have experienced so far. Before you know it, you will arrive in Xi’an— the former capital city of China and steeped in ancient history.

Hotel: Titan Times Hotel or similar (for 2 nights’ stay)

DAY 13 – Xian (B, L)

Today brings you to one of the ultimate highlights of your journey—a UNESCO World Heritage Site like no other: the Terracotta Army of China’s First Emperor. Marvel at the life-sized clay soldiers and bronze chariots, meticulously crafted thousands of years ago and remarkably preserved to this day. A traditional dumpling lunch offers a delicious break before you continue to the magnificent 14-kilometer-long Ming Dynasty City Wall—the longest and best-preserved ancient wall in China. You’ll have the opportunity to walk or bike along this historic fortification. As evening falls, immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of the Muslim Quarter’s night market. Sample a variety of local delicacies as your guide shares fascinating stories about the history and influence of Muslim communities along the ancient Silk Road.

DAY 14 – Xian –Beijing (B)

You will depart Xi’an aboard a high-speed express train, and in approximately five hours arrive in China’s majestic capital— Beijing. Here, you’ll embark on a special journey into the past, beginning with a visit to the imperial Summer Palace, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. You’ll be captivated by its traditional garden artistry and striking architecture. At the center of the complex, situated on the shores of Kunming Lake, lies the renowned Marble Boat—a national icon. Stroll along the 700-meter-long covered corridor, adorned with intricate painted scenes, offering exceptional photo opportunities and a tangible sense of imperial grandeur. Hotel: Mercure Beijing Downtown Hotel or similar (for 3 nights’ stay)

DAY 15 – Beijing  (B, D)

Your morning begins at the magnificent Temple of Heaven, where Ming and Qing emperors once performed solemn rituals to pray for abundant harvests. Immerse yourself in the spiritual and architectural significance of this ancient sacred space.

In the afternoon, prepare for another unforgettable experience: a visit to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall, a less-crowded yet beautifully preserved UNESCO World Heritage Site located north of Beijing. You’ll have ample time to walk along this iconic structure and admire breathtaking views of the wall winding like a dragon across the mountain ridges. A cable car provides a relaxing return journey—on a clear day, you may even glimpse Beijing’s skyline in the distance. The day concludes with a culinary highlight: a traditional Beijing duck dinner, offering a perfect close to your journey through China’s history and flavors.

DAY 16 – Beijing (B)

You start today at a historical center point for all of China: Tiananmen Square. This is where, in 1949, Chairman Mao Zedong proclaimed the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Both his mausoleum and the Monument to the People’s Heroes are located in the center of this magnificent square. But that is by no means all there is to see on this densely built-up site. At the northern end is the Gate of Heavenly Peace and the Forbidden City, closely enclosed by a red wall. From here, we stroll through the Forbidden City and admire the former residence of ancient China’s many emperors. You will spend your last evening of this trip at the Lama Temple and the Confucius Temple. Those who still have energy can join a walk through the hutongs, the traditional courtyard neighbourhoods of Beijing.

DAY 17 – Beijing Departure.   (B)

Depending on your flight time, you will be transferred to the airport today for your return home or your connecting journey.
