ITINERARY

DAY 1 Arrive Tokyo

Met on arrival and transfer to your hotel.

Hotel: 4★ Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa or similar (2 nights)

DAY 2 Tokyo      B

Enjoy a half-day tour with visits to Imperial Palace Plaza, formerly a private garden of the Royal Family. Drive by National Diet Building, which is the center of the Japanese government. Tokyo Tower is the symbol of Tokyo, you will have a panoramic view from its main observatory deck. Browse through the many stores lining Nakamise-dori walkway leading up to Asakusa Kannon Temple (Senso-ji Temple), Tokyo’s oldest and most famous Buddhist temple. Drive by Kabukiza, a classic Japanese-style theater where traditional kabuki performances are held. Your tour will disband at Tokyo Station.

DAY 3 Tokyo – Mt. Fuji Hakone   Kyoto                 B, L

Drive to Mount Fuji, stopping at the 5th Station for breathtaking views of the mountain (weather permitting). Proceed to Hakone National Park for a cruise on Lake Ashi. Take the Mt Komagatake Ropeway, a scenic cable car ride for panoramic views of the spectacular Mt. Fuji area.

Ride a Shinkansen high speed train to Kyoto.

DAY 4 Kyoto  – Nara – Kyoto                                                                    B, L

A full-day tour brings you to the Nijo Castle, a World Heritage site which was completed in 1626 providing lodging for the Tokugawa Shogun and palladium for Kyoto Imperial palace. The impressive, elaborate carvings and decors in the Ninomaru Palace are a must-see. Continue to another World Heritage site Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion), the wooden architecture is covered in thin layers of pure gold. Visit Kyoto Imperial Palace, used to be the emperor’s residence until about 150 years ago.

After lunch, drive to Nara and see Todai-ji Temple, one of the world’s largest wooden structures. Its huge main hall and bronze Great Buddha are impressive to behold. Kasuga Taisha Shrine, this Nara Period shrine is designated as a World Heritage Site. The deer of Nara Park are thought to be the shrine messengers.

DAY 5 Kyoto       B

Today is free at leisure.

DAY 6 Kyoto Departure  B

Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
