DAY 1 Arrive Chengdu

Met on arrival and transferred to your hotel.

DAY 2 Chengdu B, L, SD

Today’s tour highlights include a guided tour of Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding followed by a visit to Jinli Ancient Street. Tonight, enjoy a hot pot dinner and experience Sichuan culture and traditions with a cultural show which includes the Mask Changing magic.

DAY 3 Chengdu B, L

See the world’s largest stone Buddha statue (233 feet /71 meters), Grand Buddha of Leshan, a UNESCO World Heritage-site. Trek up and down the trails around the whole structure, and visit ancient Buddhist temples along the way. Admire intricate architectural and structural designs of the Lingyun Temple and Wuyou Temple.

DAY 4 Chengdu ✈ Lhasa (3650m) B

Fly to Lhasa. Arrive in Gongar Airport and drive along a 93 km road leading to Lhasa. Spend the day in Lhasa acclimatizing to the altitude.

DAY 5-6 Lhasa B, L, D

Spend 2 days sightseeing in Lhasa. Tour highlights include Potala Palace, residence of Dalai Lama built in the 7th century and symbol of Tibet. Norbuglinkha, the summer palace of Dalai Lama, Jokhang (Dazao) Monastery (House of the Lord), the most important temple in Tibet, Barkhor Street for some souvenir shopping, Drepung Monastery, residence of 3rd-5th Dalai Lama and Sera Monastery.

DAY 7 Lhasa – Gyantse (3950m) B, L, D

Drive on Friendship Highway (261 kms/ 7 hrs), traversing high mountain passes and plateaus. En route stop for a majestic view of Yamdrok-tso Lake and Nazin Kang Sa, standing at 7252m. Arrive at the historic town of Gyantse, a small village and home to the Kumbum Monastery.

DAY 8 Gyantse – Shigatse (3900m) B, L, D

Visit Perkhor Chode Monastery and Kumbum and drive to Shigatse (90 kms), the second largest city of Tibet and visit Tashilhunpo Monastery.

DAY 9 Shigatse – Shegar (4050m) B, L, D

Traverse along the Friendship Highway (244 km/ 6 hrs), driving past the small town of Lhatse and Gyamtso La pass at 5220m to Shegar. Visit Sakya Monastery on the way and get to Shegar in late afternoon.

DAY 10 Shegar – Rongbuk (Everest Base Camp) (5000m) B, L, D

Drive south crossing Pang La pass (68 kms) at 5150m to Everest Base Camp. Enjoy the splendor of majestic views of snow-capped peaks from Makalu to Shishapangma. Continue your drive with a visit to Rongphu Monastery before reaching the base camp of Rongbuk.

DAY 11 Rongbuk – Kyirong (4200m) B, L, D

Get up early to appreciate the sunrise of Mt. Everest if lucky enough. Travel to Kyirong, crossing Lalung La pass at 5124 m. Savour the enchanting views of the surrounding peaks of Shishapangma, Paiku Tso before arriving Kyirong on the new Sino-Nepal border.

DAY 12 Kyirongv Rasuwav Kathmandu (1400m) B

From Kyirong, drive to the Immigration Control. Here, you will part with your Tibetan guide and driver, and meet your Nepalese escort who will drive you to Kathmandu (130 kms/5 hrs).

DAY 13 Kathmandu B, L

A full-day sightseeing takes you to Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest in the world and Pashupatinath Temple. Continue to Bhaktapur Durbar Square, known as the “City of Devotees”. Other highlights include visits to Patan Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Stupa, the holiest shrine for the Buddhists and Hindus, and Kathmandu Durbar Square, Hanuman Dhoka, the old palace of the Royal Dynasty.

DAY 14 Kathmandu Departure B

Transfer to the airport.
